ACCESSIBILITA MCVI

Tactile Path inside Nature History and Archaeological Museum

The path focuses on six pieces, four of them in the archaeological area and two in the natural one.

In the hall of the Teatro Romano Berga, through the archaeological section, you will come across the “Bukephalion”, the head of a bull made in local marble which was once part of the architectural decoration of the ancient theatre of Vicenza (I century AD).
In the room of the Iron Age two local findings were chosen for this path: a meaningful bronze tablet reporting the venetic alphabet and the famous basalt stele reporting for the first time the word “Venetkens”.
The path continues in the upper floor through the prehistoric section, with a squared-mouth glass dating back to the Neolithic Age, embellished with graffito decorations. In the naturalistic wing “Antiguastrea lucasiana”, an oligocene fossil coral from 30 millions ago, and the “Curculio vicetinus”, a little insect which lives in our territory were faithfully reproduced. Basilica Palladiana

A new model, 130 by 130 centimetres large, which reproduces the city of Vicenza in scale is now available in the Basilica Palladiana. It is a tool made in 3D printing, mainly designed for blind, visually impaired and deafblind users, but it can be used by any type of audience as well. It allows to understand and explore the morphology of the city: with the touch of your hand, you can turn on audio guides that explain the main buildings: Teatro Olimpico, Palazzo Chiericati, corso Palladio, chiesa di Santa Corona e Museo Naturalistico Archeologico; Palazzo Leoni Montanari; Palazzo Thiene; Palladio Museum; Basilica Palladiana e Piazza dei Signori; Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunciata; corso Fogazzaro. These points of interest are accompanied by small plaques which, through an external Braille tablet, report their name. On the left and out of the scale for spatial reasons, there are the Sanctuary of Monte Berico and Villa La Rotonda. The model reproduces also, with different textures and materials, the waterways and the main green areas.

Materials

The model is printed with the technique of the 3D printing, by using an eco-friendly material, that is PLA (Polylactic Acid). The touch terminals of the sensors are made with a special conductive material for 3D printing. The base and the supporting structure are made of wood.

Modalities of use

To use the model, you have to select the language (English or Italian) in the panel on the front by following the instructions in Braille. A rope next to this panel will guide the users in the tour of the historic centre among the many points of interest. On the left, there is a second rope that creates a peripheral path between Monte Berico and Villa La Rotonda.

Teatro Olimpico

Visitors with disabilities can access the Theatre from the exit door located at the end of the street Stradella Olimpica, to avoid going through the gravel of the garden. The ticket is free of charge for people with disabilities and the accompanying person, and can be collected at the Tourist information office located next to the garden of the Theatre, n.12 Piazza Matteotti. From Autumn 2021 people with visual impairment can orient themselves inside the museum with the new signage composed by Braille floor plans and legends. Moreover, they can comprehend the compositional system that made Palladio so famous, being able to go through the building layout thanks to relief prints. Above all, visitors can explore with their own hands the elegant Palladian wooden models shown in every room, guided by specialized educators.Info: This email address is being protected from spambots. Diocesan Museum

Since 2016, the Diocesan Museum of Vicenza offers the project “Museo x Tutti: activites to break down barriers and creating new spaces”, an inclusive experience which aim to building an accessible “background” for everyone. The project offers paths which revolves around the contact with the artwork, with different experiences according to sector of public.

Starting from the etnographic collections of the Museum, “Africa Magica” is a didactic activity for visually impaired people where, through the senses and the dance, visitors can discover the multifacted world of central Africa .

The visit to the museum comes with some creative laboratories that enhance the creativity and the cooperation, while the archaeological areas managed by the Museum are part of the Rumanorum Convivium path, where visitors can come in contact with materials, instruments and food of the Ancient Rome.

All the paths are planned by a professional staff specialized in artistic-historical and pedagogical fields, helped by a art-therapy expert. The goal is to convert the Museum into a space for the city, a a place where to spend some quality time. Info: This email address is being protected from spambots. Gallerie d’Italia - Palazzo Leoni Montanari

The Gallerie d’Italia-Palazzo Leoni Montanari pay special attention to the interaction with their visitors. The itineraries are realized with the combined action of educators and professionals: they are intended for the fragile and vulnerable sectors of the public, which require more attention.
In Vicenza, inclusive paths invite to a sensorial discovery of the sculptural and plastic materials, which tell more about the history of the building, of the collections and of the temporary exhibitions.
With the tactile book “Le Gallerie si raccontano”, realized with the help of the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted – Vicenza section, visitors with visual impairment can choose between a self-guided tour or to be accompained by an educational guide. The latest scientific and didactic project “Argilla – Storie di Vasi” (Clay – History of vases) offers a narrative itinerary with a special focus on the special public: the exhibition uses audio, tactile and video support (with Italian sign language) to be totally inclusive and accessible. Even the russian icons exhibition welcomes the visitors with a multisensorial inmersive experience which blends sounds, images and scents, guiding them “into” the world of the orthodox spirituality.  LINK   Info: This email address is being protected from spambots.
