ROBERTO BAGGIO
Born in Caldogno (VI) in 1967 where he’s currently living, in 1993 he won the Ballon d’Or. He’s the second Vicentine to gain the Oscar of Football after PAOLO ROSSI who is Vicentine by adoption and by residence, despite being native of Prato (Tuscany).

Although a lot of problems, injuries and some not-so-good relationships with coaches who confined him on the bench, Roberto Baggio was crucial in his last 3 World Cup: Italy ‘90, USA ‘94 and France ‘98. Thanks to his performance and to his iconic “codino” (ponytail), Roberto Baggio is one of the most famous and well-known footballer in the world.

CHRISTIAN MAGGIO - footballer

Vicentine of Montecchio Maggiore, born in 1982, he played for Vicenza, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Naples. In 2008 he got his first call with the Italian national team.

FEDERICO MARCHETTI - footballer

Born in Bassano del Grappa in 1983, Lazio and Italian national team’s former goalkeeper.

PIERPAOLO BONATO - canoeist

At 16 he was the top athlete of the Valbrenta Team in Valstagna (VI): on the 30th of July 2011 he won the Under 21 Italian Championship of canoe (K1 discipline).

JENNY LAVARDA - climber

Member of the Italian Forestry Corps-Sports Section, “lady geco” (Lady Gecko, as she is called) is a sport climbing champion.

FILIPPO POZZATO - cyclist

Native of Sandrigo, he won two stages of the Tour de France and the Milano-Sanremo in 2006.

GELINDO BORDIN - marathoner

Born in Longare in 1959, he was the first italian to won the olympic marathon (Seoul ‘88).

TATIANA GUDERZO - cyclist

Born in Marostica, she is a road cycling champion, bronze medal at the Beijing’s Olympic Games in 2008 and World Champion in 2009.

GIANFRANCO CUNICO - driver

Rally driver champion, he won 11 national championships.

MARTINA DOGANA - triathlete

Triathlete born in Valdagno and holder of different national championships (team and individual), she has 3 hour and 1 minute marathon record (Nizza 2009) and a personal best of 1 hour 19 minutes in the half-marathon.

ENRICO FABRIS - ice skater
Born in Roana in 1981, he’s one of the best italian ice skater of all time, the first one to win a speed skating’s olympic gold medal in 2006.

SAMUEL PERON - dancer

Professional dancer born in 1982 in Marostica, he became famous thanks to the tv show “Ballando con le stelle” (Dancing with the stars).

 

TOM PERRY - alpinist
Native of Sovisso, Tom Perry is known as the “barefoot alpinist” for his challenges on the mountains barefoot, such as the descent of the Etna and of the Sajama.

PIERPAOLO FERRAZZI - canoeist

Born in 1965 in Bassano del Grappa, Pierpaolo Ferrazzi won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1992 in two different categories: olympic canoe K2 500 metres and olympic slalom K1. He also won the bronze medial in the 2000’s Olympic Games in Sydney in the K1 categories.

MIKI BIASON - driver

Born in Bassano del Grappa in 1958, he’s a former rally and rally raid driver, two times world champion in 1988 and 1989.

 

 

THOMAS CECCON - swimmer
Born in Magrè on the 27th of january 2001, he built his reputation as a future star in the Crazzo’s swimming pool, where he emerged as a future champion. He definitely marked his name in the present and in the future of swimming at the Tokyo’s Olympic Games, where he won the silver in the 4x100 freestyle and the bronze in the 4x100 medley.
