SILENT PLAY

Starting from the Scalette arch, the route climbs up to reveal a view of the entire city from above. The few remaining towers of the medieval structure, the volume of the Palladian Basilica, the hill in the centre of the city. Like a theatrical backdrop, the view embraces the city with the plain and the foothills of the Alps in the background. The uniqueness of Palladio’s work lies in the strong dialogue, which can also be conflictual, with the context in which the buildings are located. The show immerses participants in a journey between reality and representation, accompanying them along San Bastian with stories, music and surprises, to arrive at a unique place called Villa Almerico Capra, known as “La Rotonda”. As if in a very large theatre, Palladio’s geometries provoke the context and, returning along the old route of the “littorina”, skirting the ancient district of Santa Caterinetta al Porto, Andrea Palladio’s words accompany us as we question the form that cities take according to the desires of their inhabitants.
