Villa Chiericati rises in Vancimuglio, along the state road leading to Padua. After the analysis of an autographic drawing kept in Great Britain, the structure was universally attributed to Andrea Palladio. However several differences can be noted between the drawing and the building: they are probably due to changes occurred when the villa was beeing built.
For instance, the staircase has been designed to occupy all of the three intercolumniations of the pronaos, not only one. The pronaos of Ionic order is jutting with respect to the body of the manor-house and is crowned by statues.
The building was ordered by Giovanni Chiericati and started around 1554/55. It was still under construction in 1557. Many years later, in 36 the property was transferred to the earl Ludovico Porto who finished the works.
The side house was erected at the right of the structure in the eighteenth century. In the vicinity rises the neoclassic Villa Lioy Macerata.
