THE PAINTED QUARRIES IN RUBBIO
is an extraordinary work of art by the painter and sculptor TONI ZARPELLON from Nove di Bassano. The artist’s idea has turned a serious environmental problem (an abandoned quarry) into a cultural and tourist site of particular interest. It is difficult to explain what you feel when visiting and walking through the area and therefore we invite you to do so in person. There are no entrance tickets or opening hours. It is often possible to see the artist himself carrying on with “infinite story” in this fairytale setting.
Next to the painted quarry there is the inhabited quarry.
How to get there: The painted quarry is at an altitude of about 1,000 metres on the southern side of the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni. Just before arriving in the centre of Rubbio, a hamlet of Bassano del Grappa, take the road that leads to Monte Caina and follow indications. Cava dipinta
