"Appuntamenti a Vicenza" (Appointments in Vicenza) is the latest volume dedicated to our area published by the Touring Club, in collaboration with ‘Vicenza è’ and VIP, with the subheading "buona tavola, arte, artigianato e tradizioni: i sapori della città e della sua provincia" (good cooking, art, crafts and traditions: the flavours of the city and its province).
Edited by Francesco Soletti, the booklet has 60 pages and a substantial number of photographs, presenting the Vicenza area first as the land of art and crafts, with gold-working in Bassano, Trissino and Vicenza, pottery in Nove and Bassano, stone-working in the Berici hills and many other craftspeople to visit.
It then presents the art of good cooking, with typical dishes and products and cultural opportunities in the city, Berici hills and the lower Vicenza area, to conclude with Bassano.
"Appuntamenti a Vicenza" also gives useful information on artistic crafts and food and wine and a calendar listing no less than 284 festivals, fairs, exhibitions and markets throughout the province.
Surrounded by harmonious Palladian architecture, the tourist has the opportunity to seek out goldsmiths, antiques shops, potters and stonemasons, without forgetting the delicacies of Vicenza cooking: laboratories, farms, workshops, artists and distilleries will accompany the visitor during excursions along the various DOC wine itineraries or to taste Asiago cheese.
However, the Vicenza area has more to offer than just food, including among other things, the famous Rotonda and the atmosphere of Bassano del Grappa, which can be enjoyed in some of the many possible itineraries.
The publication will be made available to tourists in the next dew days at tourist information offices in the province, in Asiago, Bassano del Grappa, Recoaro, Tonezza and the city of Vicenza. |
