Villa Marcello Curti was probably built in the early forties of the si0teenth century: it is a juvenile work of Andrea Palladio although its designed was not included in the treatise "The Four Books of Architecture". Nevertheless a drawing of this architect kept in London (R.I.B.A. 27) can undoubtely be referred to this structure, in spite of some variations.
This building helps to understand the evolution of Palladio's style and shows some assonances with other residences, such as Villa Caldogno in Caldogno or Villa Saraceno at Finale of Agugliaro.
The facedes has three central barrel-vaults and is marked by eight pilaster strips of Ionic order resting on a high plinth, and by four niched windows. The three central intercolumniations are crowned by a triangular pediment.
The interiors, e0cept for the loggia and the central cross-vaulted room, were completely transformed by several tamperings during the last centuries.
This villa was included in the World Heritage Lista of Unesco in december 1994.
